Itinerary: Day By Day

Arrive In Uganda | Travel To Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary | Rhino Tracking | Travel To Murchison Falls National Park | Top Of Falls | Hiking (Optional)

On arrival in Uganda, you will be welcomed and picked by our Kubwa Five Safaris guide, who will be holding an A4 paper with your name printed on it at Entebbe International Airport, and you will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park.

On your way to Murchison Falls National Park, you will branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking; this activity is truly one of a kind in Uganda, the pearl of Africa.

After the rhino tracking, you will be driven to Murchison Falls National Park.

Your first tourist attraction in the park is the top of the falls, which are the most powerful waterfalls in the whole world . It is a breathtaking experience that brings you very close to these magnificent falls, where the Nile forces its way through a gorge in the rocks and tumbles 43m below flowing westwards into Lake Albert. The resulting mist from the turbulence often produces rainbows.

After seeing the top of the falls, if time allows, you will enjoy a hiking experience from the top to the bottom of the falls at a fee of 10 USD per person payable at the park and thereafter en-route to your lodge, go for a short evening game drive.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive | Boat Cruise | Birding | Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, you will set off very early in the morning for a morning game drive. You will be able to see various animals like lions, leopards, giraffes, hippos, elephants among others.

Other activities in this game drive include bird watching and sightseeing across the open savannah, dotted woodland, and riverine vegetation along the Nile and Albert deltas.

After the morning game drive, you will go to the lodge to relax and have lunch.

After lunch, you will embark (between 2pm and 4pm) on a three-hour boat cruise on the Nile. This boat cruise offers an amazing view of the falls from the bottom. Hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, and aquatic birds can be seen along the shores of the river.

Day 3: Travel To Kibale National Park | Bigodi Community Walk

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale National park, driving Southwest through the Albertine Escarpment of the great Western Rift Valley. You will have lunch on your way.

On arrival in Kibale National Park, you will be driven to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a community walk and cultural interaction. It is a fascinating area, located in Magombe swamp.

This area is recognized for an extensive array of biodiversity among which are several primates species like the red colobus monkeys, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkey grey cheeked, mangabey, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys and the L’Hoest monkeys. Additional mammals such as sitatungas, mongooses, bush pigs, otters plus bush bucks.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking | Relax In The Evening

After breakfast, you will head out with your guide and a packed lunch to the park head offices for a briefing about the do’s and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. You will start early and take about two to six hours, depending on the location of the chimps.

After trekking, you will go back to your lodge and spend the entire evening relaxing.

The opportunity to see chimpanzees in the wild is one of the most memorable of all safari activities. Getting close to these creatures that share so much of our DNA is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and the excitement of walking through the forest and knowing that they are close will stay with you forever.

Day 5: Visit Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves | Travel To Queen Elizabeth National Park | Boat Ride | Game Drive

After breakfast, you will visit the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves and the three surrounding explosion Crater Lakes. This makes it one of the most interesting day adventures and it can be done while staying in Fort portal.

After visiting Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is a huge park where wildlife and people coexist in harmony. You will have lunch on your way.

On arrival in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel which connects Lake Edward and Lake George.

Some of the best wildlife viewings are done on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, passing squacco herons, pied kingfishers, large numbers of buffalo and hippo, basking crocodiles and very many different bird species and large mammals. This is one of the most memorable experiences from the park. Over 300 hippos are found in the lake.

After the boat cruise, you will go for an evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park aiming to catch the lions hunting in the evening. Lions usually hunt when the temperatures are cooler. We also expect to see the Uganda kob, elephants, buffalos, warthogs, leopards and waterbucks.

Travel To Ishasha Sector | Transfer To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park | Batwa Cultural Interaction

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Ishasha Sector for the tree-climbing lions on the Kasenyi Plains. Ishasha is located in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth.

Have a game drive in Ishasha, famous for its tree climbing lions. The Ishasha Sector is notably recognized for its resident tree-climbing lions which are an exceptional attraction.

After the game drive in Ishasha it is time to move to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the famous mountain gorillas. You will have lunch en route.

On arrival, you will check in at your lodge, then later in the evening, you will head out for a community walk where you will visit the Batwa. This is an indigenous group of people that have lived in the forest for over 500,000 years. You will enjoy traditional dances and drama from them.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking | Travel To Lake Bunyonyi With 29 Islands

After breakfast, you will head out with your guide and a packed lunch to the park head offices for a briefing about the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking.

Afterwards, you will head out for gorilla trekking through the misty rain forest. Trekking lasts two to six hours, depending on the location of the gentle giants. Make sure you carry enough water, sturdy shoes, non-flash cameras, and rain jackets.

Spending time in the presence of mountain gorillas is a real privilege, so we are sure you will enjoy trekking deep into the forest to find them. This is one of the most memorable experiences you can have while on safari.

At the end of this long and exciting adventure, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi, which is a twisting water body, dotted with 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water.

On arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you will check in at your lodge and relax for the rest of your day.

After having a delightful breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala. Along the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator in Masaka. You will be able to see where this imaginary line divides our planet into two equal hemispheres. Lunch, snacks, souvenirs and photographs may be taken here.

After lunch, you will be driven to Entebbe International Airport for your connecting flight to Kenya.

Upon arrival in Kenya, you will be welcomed and picked by our Kubwa Five Safaris guide who will be holding an A4 paper with your name printed on it at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and be transferred to your hotel in Nairobi.

Day 9: Transfer To Lake Naivasha National Park | Boat Ride

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Naivasha National Park. This Lake is arguably one of the main attractions in Kenya. For one, it‘s a gateway to a variety of wildlife.

On arrival in Lake Naivasha, you will check in at your lodge, then get out for an evening boat ride. Taking a boat excursion will give you spectacular views of flamingoes, hippos and fish eagles.

Distance from Nairobi to Lake Naivasha is about 1 hour and 45 minutes’ drive.

Day 10: Travel To Hell’s Gate National Park For Bike riding | Travel To Lake Nakuru National Park | Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Hell’s Gate National Park for bike riding which will take about 2 hours.

After the bike riding safari, you will be driven to Lake Nakuru National Park. On arrival, you will check in at your l0dge and later, you will go for an evening game drive.

Distance from Hell’s Gate National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park is about 2 hours and 15 minutes’ drive.

Lake Nakuru National Park's claim to fame is anchored on its numerous flamingos and over 400 different bird species. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley.

The sight of the millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink.

Day 11: Full Day Game Drive In Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, you will head out for an early morning game drive. After the morning game drive, you will go back to your lodge for lunch and after, you embark on an evening game drive.

Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s renowned soda lakes and it is world-famous for attracting millions of flamingos to its alkaline shores.

Feeding on the abundant algae that grows in the warm and shallow waters, witnessing these legions of fuchsia-pink flamingos is a sight to behold.

Lake Nakuru National Park has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Manyara National Park. Here lies a narrow belt of acacia woodland and a floodplain that is filled seasonally by Lake Manyara which is often overlooked, but game-rich and best known for its tree-climbing lions.

Walk along the main street of Mto Wa Mbu which is strung out along the road close to the gate for Lake Manyara National Park.

It is a busy and engaging little town where safari tourists mingle with Tanzanians from all across the country. You’ll soon get a feel for the diversity of tribal cultures (members of all Tanzania’s 120 tribal groups live here) and the sometime frenetic, sometimes laid-back pace of local life.

Please keep in mind that this trip is only for children who are at least years old. However, only children aged 15 and above are permitted to trek the Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees; if you have children under the age of 15, we will engage them in other activities while you are trekking the Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees. As a result, for children aged 14 and under, each child will not be charged US $900, which is intended for the Gorilla permit (US $800) and the Chimpanzee permit (US $250).
It is a private safari (a solo traveler, couples, and families) you will be your own vehicle but if you prefer not to come as a solo traveler and you want to join a group of other travelers from different parts of the world, please get in touch with us.

Before Departing On Your Gorilla Trekking:

A maximum number of eight visitors may visit a group of habituated mountain gorillas in a day. This minimizes behavioral disturbance to the gorillas and the risk of their exposure to human-borne diseases.
Always wash your hands before you head out to the gorillas.

On The Way To The Gorillas:

Please always keep your voices low. You will also be able to observe the great birdlife and other wildlife in the forest.
DO NOT leave rubbish in the park. Whatever you bring into the forest should be carried back out with you.
You will be taken to where the guides observed the gorillas the day before. From there you will follow the gorilla’s trail to find them. Look out for the gorilla’s nesting sites along the way!
When you approach the mountain gorillas, the guides will inform you to get ready.

When You Are With The Gorillas:

A seven-meter (21 feet) distance should be tried to be observed at all times from the gorillas. The further back you are, the more relaxed the group will be.
You must stay in a tight group whey you are near the gorillas.
Keep your voices down at all times. However, it is okay to ask the guide questions.
Do not smoke, drink, or eat when you are near the gorillas. Eating or drinking inevitably will increase the risk of food/drink morsels/droplets falling, which could increase the risk of transmission of diseases.
Sometimes the gorillas charge. Follow the guides example (crouch down slowly, do not look the gorillas directly in the eyes, and wait for the animals to pass). Do not attempt to run away because that will increase the risk.
Flash photography is not permitted! When taking pictures move slowly and carefully.
Do not touch the gorillas. They are wild animals.
The maximum time you can spend with the gorillas is one hour. However, if the gorillas become agitated or nervous, the guide will finish the visit early.
After the visit keep your voices down until you are 200 meters away from the gorillas.

General Health Rules:

Remember that mountain gorillas are very susceptible to human diseases. The following rules are ways to minimize the risk your visit might pose to them.
Respect the limits imposed on the number of visitors allowed with the gorillas each day. This minimizes the risk of disease transmission and stress to the group.
If you are feeling ill, or you are carrying a contagious disease, volunteer to stay behind. An alternate visit will be arranged for you, or you will be refunded your money.
If you feel the urge to cough or sneeze when you are near the gorillas, please turn your head away and cover your nose and mouth in order to minimize the spread of bacteria or viruses.
Always stay seven meters (21 feet) away from the gorillas. This is to protect them from catching human diseases.
Do not leave any rubbish (eg. food wrappers) in the park; foreign items can harbor diseases or other contaminants.
If you need to go to the toilet while in the forest, please ask the guide to dig you a hole with his panga. Make sure the hole is 30 centimeters deep and fill it in when you are finished.

What To Bring On Your Gorilla Safari:

Wear comfortable hiking shoes suitable for steep muddy slopes.
Put on earplugs for those who feel uncomfortable with the jungle sounds.
Carry a packed lunch and enough drinking water.
Carry rain gear, sunscreen lotion, a hat (as the weather is unpredictable), and insect repellent.
Bring a photo of a film camera. Using a flashlight is not permitted so we recommend using films of 400-800 ASA.

All tours will be booked and confirmed only upon receipt of a 15% deposit of the basic program rate. For gorilla permits, a full advance payment of the permit fee (USD $ 800 per permit person) for Gorilla trekking in Uganda) and fee (USD $ 1500 per permit per person) for Gorilla tracking in Rwanda), and the chimpanzee permits (US$ 250 per permit per person) are required in order to make the reservation.
The payment balance is due no later than 21 days prior to the safari unless agreed otherwise.
Bookings made within 21 days before arrival must be paid in full at the time of confirmation.
If payment is not received in accordance with the above, Kubwa Five Safaris has the right to cancel the booking.
Payments are made using credit/debit card which is already provided the Booking Form and this is the secured payment link.
You can also pay directly online to our bank; eCheck for bank-to-bank wire transaction using the payment link that has been provided. However, it will take 4-5 days to have money reflected on our bank account. The bank transfer costs are to be paid by the client(s) before the start of the safari.

Cancellations By Client (s) And Refunds

- All cancellation requests must be made in writing and shall be effective on the date of actual receipt by Kubwa Five Safaris.
- The amount of the cancellation fee is calculated according to the date on which the Kubwa Five Safaris receives written cancellation notice and the following cancellation charges apply to the basic program rate:
