The Wildebeest migration happens every year where massive herds of wildebeests or Gnus travel across the Tanzania and Keya in search for water and grass following the rain. They move across southern Serengeti in Tanzania to Maasai Mara I Kenya and back the migration is a circular route with these animals moving from one point to another. The dry season between July and October influences the herds to move north and go to south during the rainy season in November –May.

It is believed that during the wet season grasses are greener making it safer for calving the process were female wildebeests give birth to their young ones called calves, these can stand and run within minutes if being born. During this period predators like lions, hyenas are always hunting for the babies.  When the drought comes May the herds move north towards Kenya here about 3000 crocodiles wait to kill the moving animals. a) Serengeti National Park

It  is able to sustain this activity making it special .it covers over 14763km of land located I the eastern Mara region with approximately 25% of Tanzania’s wildlife making it one of the best conservational wilderness areas in Africa. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site as it has been listed since 1981. Serengeti is also home to over 70 species of animals which include the big five i.e. lions, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, elephants.
