Being part of the big cats, the lions are referred to as the kings of the jungle due to their fearless character and the fact that they know how to run their game. We now see that it may not have been quite their character as one would think climbing a tree would provide an escape from being hunted down by these mammals. Ugandan lions climb trees for various reasons and among these we see that;

• They are usually running away from these irritating small insects that usually bite their skins,
• They do climb trees as a way of seeing their prey being that up there the view is a bit clearer than when they are in the grasslands,

These jungle kings are found in many different places but those that can take the risk of going up there are very few in the world hence finding them in very few places in the world. These guys are majorly found in Africa majorly in East Africa and a few in the southern part of Africa. The biggest number is found in Queen Elizabeth National park in Uganda,followed Serengeti , Lake manyara and Tarangire National Parks in Tanzania and in the Southern part of Africa we have got the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

In Uganda, tree climbing lions will be found in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the Western region of the country, in the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri. This game park is also a home to 618 bird species which makes it the 6^th highest diversity in the world and the highest in Africa. Being a perfect destination in Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park is usually paired with the famous gorilla trekking of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park.

Being left with approximately 30,000 to 100,000 lions in the whole world, Uganda takes 400 lions in total and 130 being only in Queen Elizabeth National Gamepark which may mean that all these found here may be experts in the activity. So I would say the population of those in this Park, Serengeti, Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks in Tanzania and those in the Okavango Delta in Botswana are all famous for climbing trees.

Provided that the branches are strong enough to support their heaviness and strong muscles, lions can climb approximately 15 feet as long as this is possible for them monitor and inspector their hunting zone.
