What made me join tourism as a guide?
What made me join tourism as a Tanzania safari guide was my passion for the country’s natural beauty and its rich wildlife. Growing up in a small town of Mugumu which borders Serengeti national park, I developed a deep connection to the wildlife, environment, and a love for its diverse ecosystems. Becoming a guide allowed me to share this passion with others, helping them appreciate the intricacies of the flora and fauna while promoting conservation efforts.
By guiding safaris, I can educate guests about the importance of protecting these habitats and wildlife. It’s a rewarding experience to not only spot and identify animals and birds but also to inspire travelers to become advocates for conservation. Joining tourism as a guide has allowed me to make a difference, one tour at a time, by fostering a greater understanding and respect for the natural world.
There are many interesting stories I’ve encountered during my tourism journey in Tanzania as a safari tour guide. One memorable experience was witnessing the Great Migration in the Serengeti, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles make their annual trek. It’s an awe-inspiring event that showcases the raw power of nature, as these animals navigate treacherous rivers and pursue greener pastures.
Another unforgettable moment was tracking a pride of lions in the Ngorongoro Crater. Guests were amazed to see the lions up close, observing their behavior and learning about their roles within the ecosystem. It’s moments like these that highlight the importance of conservation and the need to protect these majestic creatures for future generations.
Through these experiences, I’ve been able to share my love for Tanzania’s wildlife and ecosystems, while also educating travelers about the importance of sustainable tourism practices. Each day brings new stories and new connections with the natural world, making my work as a safari guide truly fulfilling.

During the off season, when there are no safaris available, I like to spend my leisure time exploring the natural beauty of Tanzania in a more relaxed way. This might involve hiking through less-traveled trails, visiting local communities, and immersing myself in the diverse cultures and landscapes of the country. I also enjoy birdwatching and plant identification, which allows me to continue learning and sharing knowledge even when guiding tours isn’t active.
Additionally, I often participate in wildlife conservation projects and volunteer my time with local NGOs focused on protecting wildlife habitats and supporting community development. This downtime allows me to recharge and prepare for the busy safari season ahead. It’s a way to stay connected to the environment and contribute meaningfully to the conservation efforts in Tanzania.
Family status:
I’m married and a father of 2 boys and 4 daughters. If you would like more details or have further questions about my family, feel free to ask!
Favorite animal, birds, and insect
My favorite animal species is the hunting female lion. I find her hunting techniques fascinating because of their efficiency and the strategic approach they take to bring down prey. Observing how lions work together as a pride and the tactics they use, such as stalking and ambushing, is truly impressive.
In addition to the hunting lion, I also have a fondness for the dung beetle and the hammerkop bird. The dung beetle plays a crucial role in the ecosystem by recycling nutrients and controlling pest populations. Meanwhile, the hammerkop bird’s behavior, particularly its nest-building techniques, is not only impressive but also essential for its survival and the ecological balance.
These animals and birds highlight the interconnectedness of the natural world and the important roles they play in maintaining the health of ecosystems.
