Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park is one of the most beautiful places in Africa. The Park is dramatically marked off by lush green vegetation consisting of tall trees of the ground water forest, which provide the home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. Further down, the forest opens up into woodland, grassland, swamps and beyond, the soda lake itself where over 350 species of birds, including the lively flamingo, pelican, sacred ibis, grebe, and stork can be viewed. At the southern end of the Park are hot sulphur springs called MajiMoto. Manyara is noted for its numerous buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala, hippo, as well as a great variety of smaller animals, and of course the very elusive tree-climbing lions. In the afternoon, you will proceed towards Karatu Village where you meet Maasai people.
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequaled for its natural beauty and scientific value, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa
The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania was established in 1952. It is home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth – the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. The resident population of lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, and birds is also impressive. There’s a wide variety of accommodation available, from luxury lodges to mobile camps. The park covers 5,700 sq miles, (14,763 sq km), it’s larger than Connecticut, with at most a couple hundred vehicles driving around.
The Serengeti has earned the titles of one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of Africa” and one of the “Ten Natural Travel Wonders of the World” for being the site of the largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world (about 2 million animals!). However, even without the Great Migration, the park sports the densest lion population in the world and is home to all members of the Big Five and almost 500 bird species.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro crater is the largest intact caldera in the world – The Ngorongoro Crater is considered one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world and it’s definitely a must-see place in Tanzania. It attracts thousands of people from all around the globe, all year long and sometimes it’s so crowded that people prefer staying there for only a couple of nights and then moving on to the quieter Serengeti. When visiting the crater, visitors also get the incredible chance of interacting with the people from the Maasai tribe.
It is known as ‘Africa’s Garden of Eden’, Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken caldera in the world [610 metres (2 000 feet) deep and covers 260 square kilometres (100 square miles)]. The crater is known as the ‘Garden of Eden’, because of its stunning green grasses, blue water and the diversity of animals in the ‘small’ space of the crater. The ever-changing clouds, colours and landscapes make this crater magical.
Boasting incredible concentrations of wildlife, which includes elephants, lions, cheetahs, wildebeests, buffaloes, and the rare black rhinos. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places to spot the ‘Big Five’ and the rare black rhino.
